Rewind 2018: both bookish & personal matters

image source: tumblr (yaiyalah, aku mana punya kucing~)

I'm a bit surprised myself for being able to log into this blog again after so many sorrows happened in the history of my blog's archives. Instead of just putting a banner "HIATUS" or "This blog has been disbanded" and never come here anymore, I decide to make a proper post. And after so many thoughts, this one turns out not to be a goodbye post,

...but a rather emotional you-can-see-my-heart post. ♥

For the past months I always had an urge to delete this blog. But then when I thought about what would happen after I delete this blog, I felt sad, and broken. This blog has been with me for so long and I even call this a home, for me and only me.

When I didn't really have friends to talk about all books I have read, this blog came in handy. It always has a place for me to share everything I think and feel about those books. And even I didn't have so many readers or viewers, it didn't matter. I already shared my thoughts about those books and I felt so relieved. It was good if people found my reviews helpful, and it was even better when all those words on my not-so-smart brain have been written here and at least someone's reading it. Yes, I could talk about books to my sister E and my dearest friends N and D, but talking is so much different compared to writing. So that's it, I think I can never delete this blog, ever, because this is a home for me to talk about books in a way I want and love.

Every time I walked there, with every little steps I had and with even less pieces of bravery that still left, it destroyed me bit by bit.. like I was walking on a ten-centimeters plank that would rotten more and more every time I took my steps ahead, when I couldn’t go back because the path behind me has long gone, and couldn’t just jump because what lied beneath the plank was darkness without end.

Half-Year Wrap-Up 2018... and blah-blah-blah

This post is meant to be posted on June, tapi karena bulan kemarin mood nulisku lagi ancur banget (yah, pas lagi mood aja tulisannya nggak karuan, apalagi pas nggak mood..), jadi posting-an ini mundur ke Juli.

6/27 buku. -_-"

Huft.

Bookish Worlds I'd Never Want to Live In

a weekly meme hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl

For me, reading a book feel almost the same as taking a journey to another place, but no charge. Most of the time, I lost in book I always feel disorientated after taking a long journey being in someone else's shoes. And most of the time, I rather choose to live inside the book for its magical and beautiful things I never experienced in real life. But.. once a while, there are also times when I feel so thankful living in this nothing-amazing life of mine because the world inside the book is literally SU*K!

So here's my list of bookish worlds I hate from the books I love~

The Maze Runner by James Dashner
Although I hate the last book of this series, I still love the first and the second installment. But uh, well, who wants to live inside terror-maze then soon would be turned into zombies (Crank) food?! I rather not!

The Host by Stephenie Meyer
Even if I love this book with whole my heart, I never want to live in a world where some strange species invade not only our world but also our mind..

The Girl with All the Gifts by M.R. Carey
Again, who wants to be zombies (Hungries) food?!!!

The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins
I really LOVE both its books and movies but NO.. I never want to volunteer my live for being Katniss nor her allies.. xD

Between Shades of Gray by Ruta Sepetys
This isn't dystopia world. It was real world but in a war zone. Seriously, I can't help but feel so thankful I wasn't in Lina's time.. :'( but then I also feel ashamed for being thankful.. >.<

I haven't read dystopia or war or zombies book lately so that's all for my list. But well.. I wanna add one title. It's a manga I haven't read but already watched the anime version of it, and I think it could be in the list too: Attack on Titan by Hajime Isayama—seriously, even if I love Levi and the titan's form of Eren and being one of them is super COOL, I don't wanna live in a world where I could be eaten by those filthy titans. >.<

So that's my Tuesday pick, what's yours? Feel free to share! ;)

Ten Best Character Names

a weekly meme hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl

Best character name for me means name that really suit the book and its feel. Sometimes it's unique. Sometimes it just there and whenever we mention the name we would surely know from what book they are. ^^

Anamique & Mihai from Lips Touch by Laini Taylor
I never heard such unique names (both names are not related in that book, tho).

Shadow & Wednesday from American Gods by Neil Gaiman
Not everyday we met people named Shadow and Wednesday.. ^^

Pepper & Blue from A Closed and Common Orbit by Becky Chambers
A couple of lovely weird names.

Sissix from The Long Way to a Small, Angry Planet by Becky Chambers
Just don't make me say her full name! xD

Little Bee from Little Bee by Chris Cleave
A bittersweet name for a bittersweet book! >.<

Katniss & Primrose Everdeen from The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins
These names seems sweet but strong at the same time.

What's your best book-character names? ^^

[REVIEW] A Closed and Common Orbit

"Life is terrifying. None of us have a rule book. None of us know what we're doing here. So, the easiest way to stare reality in the face and not utterly lose your shit is to believe that you have control over it." —Pepper

Judul: A Closed and Common Orbit
Serial: Wayfarers #2
Penulis: Becky Chambers
Penerbit: Hodder & Stoughton
Tahun Terbit: 2016
Halaman: 512 (e-book)
ISBN: 978-147-3621-45-9

Tag Post: Book Reader Problems

In order to make this blog less boring, I would post at least one post non-review each month, like Top Ten Tuesday. But because I didn't participate in any TTT this month, I decided to participate in one of book tag I found at The Book Nut instead.

"You have 20,000 books in your TBR, how in the world do you decide what to read next?"
Goddamnit 200 books in my TBR and it already makes me going mad for choosing one. How am I supposed to choose from a hundred times more than that? ... Okay, ummm, just stick to my normal pattern, I guess: it depends on my mood. For example when I was watching tv series about vampire or werewolf or witchcraft or something like that, then I usually have the urge to read book about the same theme.

"You’re halfway through a book and you’re just not loving it. Do you put it down or are you committed?"
I'll read it 'till the end, but the struggle is REAL! I could read it for almost two months or more (ex: Time Traveler's Wife). But it was just once in a while tho—having halfway reading a book seems like a long way, and the words 'put the book down' usually just happens when I read 1/4 part of the book.

"The end of the year is coming and you’re behind on your reading challenge, do you try to catch up? And if so, how?"
*EVIL LAUGH* xD Sorry I can't help but laughing hard. This is literally my habit almost each year hahahahah. There are three ways to catch up to our reading challenge, for my case its Goodreads reading challenge: 1) Read-a-thon, this is the normal and perfect way for a really great reader; 2) Reading thin books (comic, graphic novel, etc); and last but the BEST and definitely MY way 3) Decrease the number of goals! Always works! ^_^

[REVIEW] Murder Most Unladylike

I had never seen a dead body up close before, but I was quite certain now that Miss Bell was dead. ...and I was alone with her body. I suddenly remembered the ghost of Verity Abraham, and thought that perhaps it was her who had killed Miss Bell, pushing her off from exactly the same spot she had jumped from a year ago...

1934, Sekolah Asrama Deepdean khusus Anak Perempuan.

[REVIEW] My Name Is Memory

Top 10 Favorite Book Quotes

a weekly meme adopted by That Artsy Reader Girl

To be honest, I have tons of favorite book quotes. I have read almost four hundred books, and if a book has as least two great quotes, then how many if we really count all of those pretty words? *crying* T_T So yeah, this Tuesday topic is definitely difficult. I want to write them all down here, of course, but it would be literally impossible. I have the urge to only write some book quotes about books, but at the same time I can't just throw away words from my favorite Jane Eyre or The Perks of Being a Wallflower's Charlie or Counting by 7s' Willow.

1. "So, this is my life. And I want you to know that I am both happy and sad and I'm still trying to figure out how that could be."
—Stephen Chbosky, The Perks of Being a Wallflower

2. "It's a shame, Kath, because we've loved each other all our lives. But in the end, we can't stay together forever."
—Kazuo Ishiguro, Never Let Me Go

3. "I'm stardust. I'm golden brown. I'm just one small bit in a vast expanse."
—Holly Goldberg Sloan, Counting by 7s

[REVIEW] The Long Way to a Small, Angry Planet

Living in space was anything but quiet.Day 129, GC Standard 306

Judul: The Long Way to a Small, Angry Planet
Serial: Wayfarers #1
Penulis: Becky Chambers
Penerbit: Hodder & Stoughton
Tahun Terbit: 2015
Halaman: 417 (e-book)
ISBN: 978-147-36-1977-7
★★★★☆

Books I Could re-Read Over and Over Again!

a weekly meme by That Artsy Reader Girl

In my dictionary, favorite books is just different from books that I could re-read forever. Books that I could re-read is definitely my favorite, but my favorites doesn't mean I could re-read them again (this is usually because the book is way too thick or the story's way too complicated so I decided not to re-read them because, well.. I still have so much piles of unread books I REALLY wanna read and that's already making me confused which one of those dearest should I read first to start decreasing the piles~). So, it doesn't really take too much time to choose which books I already re-read for how-many-times-I-didn't-even-counting and which books I would like to re-read..

Here's the list!

Books That Have Been on My TBR the Longest and I Still Haven't Read

a weekly meme by That Artsy Reader Girl

I'm definitely an expert in stacking so much books on my little library, and by stacking means... haven't read them all for.. uuuh, years. I don't remember exactly how long because I'm not the type to write every birth-date (the day those books came to me and be my children) of my books. So yeah.. in order to list this week Top Ten Tuesday, I'm going to try (really hard) to remember which books that have been breathing dust for too long on my little library, but also with the help of my Goodreads to-read bookshelf.

Here's the list!

[REVIEW] The Girl with All the Gifts

"I won't bite." —Melanie

Judul: The Girl with All the Gifts
Serial: The Hungry Plague #1
Penulis: M.R. Carey
Penerbit: Orbit
Tahun Terbit: 2014
Halaman: 408 (e-book)
ISBN: 978-031-62-7814-0
★★★★☆
